What I do remember are the parades, Krispy Kreme fundraisers, and local events we attended. To be honest, for some reason I remember more things from the Teen Pageant I won.. I'm not sure why as that was so long ago.. I loved meeting all the women and getting to know each other.
Wow... so much has happened since my last pageant. I have been blessed to pursue my dreams in the entertainment industry and to make a living doing what I love. If you know me already then you know I grew up as a dancer and I have been fortunate to have worked with the top artists in the industry dancing in music videos, television, film, commercials (I back-up danced for Ciara in a Degree Deodorant commercial) and gracing the stages of American Idol (with the artist PSY) to the BET Awards (with the artist T.I.) are a few of my credits. Dancing was definitely my gate way to the entertainment industry, as I had decided to start a musical girl group that I managed and got signed to Universal Canada in 2011, where we relocated to Toronto to record our EP. It was a trio group and we were called VNTY (VANITY). Due to personal conflicts, we decided to go our separate ways and I moved back to Vancouver. In 2013, I received my O-1 Visa to work & live in Los Angeles to further my career. Since moving to Los Angeles, I've been blessed with consistent work. I have also added Print Model to my collection of trades. I have booked Adidas Campaigns, seen in magazines, & art galleries. Additionally, I have been focusing on my acting career. I played Billy Dee William's girlfriend in the feature film The Man In 3B. Last November I was grateful to book a role in Jamie Foxx's directorial debut movie that he is also starring in coming out next year called ALL STAR WEEKEND - starring Jamie Foxx, Eva Longoria, Jeremy Piven & Gerard Butler. So you can say that I definitely have the acting bug. Additionally, I still have my agent in Vancouver - da Costa Talent - and I was grateful to have booked a small role on a new Netflix pilot called Altered Carbon which is directed, created, and produced by the same team as Game of Thrones. At the moment, I am in the studio working on my solo music album as my goal was with my first recording group was to be able to tour and perform in front of thousands of people as my home is the stage. I was inspired to transition from dancer to artist when I made the executive decision that I wanted to dance to my OWN music and not dance (back up dance) for someone else's music. I feel the most alive when I am performing as it is second nature for me since I have been dancing since I was 4 years old. Luckily, all my talents work hand in hand together so I don't ever feel the need to do only 1. I'm currently in pre-production for my television pilot that I am producing and starring in that will be shot in Los Angeles in August.
And lastly, as I am building my brand I'm creating products which will be available this summer.. you can keep up with me on Instagram: www.instagram.com/KatPasion
